The Institute of Management and Leadership Development (IMLD) was established in February 2013. Its setting up constitutes a determined effort by UTAR in response to the growing and crucial need to nurture quality leaders capable of assuming management and leadership roles in an increasingly complex and globalised environment. Such demand is even greater in emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific region. While there are enormous opportunities to be tapped in the region, at the same time, challenges have to be managed. The success of these regional economies largely depends on the decisions and actions taken by the respective leaders in both the private and public sectors.


Our Goal

The primary goal of the IMLD is to provide professional advancement opportunities to business leaders and government officials, through creatively-designed programmes aimed at addressing various critical management and leadership issues in today's economic environment. The focus will be on emerging economies in the region, particularly China and ASEAN counterparts, as their leaders play significant roles not only in shaping their respective economies, but also in defining our common future through sustained collaborative effort.
